Odzala-Kokoua National Park

The Republic of Congo is a Central African gem whose doors are just beginning to open to eco-tourism. Covered in vast and pristine rainforest, the Congo is home not only to the vast majority of the western lowland gorilla but also to the widest range of animal and plant life species found anywhere in Africa!

A staggering 11 000 plant species have been identified to date and over 1 100 of these are only found in this unique eco-system – 69 of which are endangered. The rainforest offers the opportunity to view rare game species not found in any other typical safari area – chimpanzees, pygmy hippos, a large variety of unusual primate species such as the Grey-cheeked Mangabay and Putty-nosed Monkeys, forest buffalo and the very rare Bongo to name a few.

Largely undeveloped and its rain forests sparsely populated, the ecotourism camps, Ngaga Camp and Lango Camp in the Odzala-Kokoua National Park offer an unprecedented opportunity to view primates. Due to their remote location every journey into its wild interior will be infused with an aura of exploration and adventure. Both camps are modelled and inspired by the designs of the local B’Aka pygmy groups, but with the lodges and each of their 6 guest rooms providing full facilities for a comfortable stay in this remote corner of Africa.

Return to camp for brunch and an afternoon siesta before setting out in the afternoon on a guided nature walk in search of birds and forest duiker.
