Unravel the secrets of the bush by taking one of the best wilderness experiences that northern Zambia and the South Luangwa National Park has to offer! Luangwa is one of our favourite places to go and a walking safari in this remote part of Africa is by far one of the most ‘real’ and authentic experiences that are left to be had.
You follow the Mupamadzi River over a period of 6 days, learning from your expert guide about everything from ants to buffalo, bird’s nests and tracking lions over wild terrain and habitats, covering about 10km per day at an easy pace.
A fully serviced mobile camp is well equipped with comfortable beds and cotton sheets while the shower hangs from under a tree and the bush loo sports a wooden throne! Meals are deliciously and expertly prepared on an open fire. Freshly baked bread appears daily and drinks are always cold and serviced with a warm smile. Dine al fresco under a billion stars or cool your tired feet in a stream of the river whilst sipping a gin & tonic and watching the sun set over another perfect day in Africa. This is one of those safari experiences that promises to get you addicted to Africa for life!
Your journey starts in Lusaka where you board a short flight to Mfuwe airport. Here a company representative awaits you and you travel the short but colourful journey through the local villages en route to your first camp, Nkwali. Refresh over afternoon tea before going out in the afternoon for your first game drive.
After an early breakfast you head out in an open Landrover to the northern regions of the park, viewing game along the way. Arrive in your tented camp in time for lunch and getting settled.
Depart camp for a scenic drive to the meeting point where you will boat across the river to Tena Tena camp. Arrive in time for lunch and a well-deserved siesta before a late afternoon drive exploring the area. Dinner is served under an age old Mahogany tree and the camp is beautifully laid out with unique design features. Time to rest those weary legs!
Depart camp after a scrumptious breakfast to return to Mfuwe airport for your onward arrangements. Stop by Tribal textiles on the way out to learn about this wonderful community project and to stock up on some local gifts for your loved ones back home.
