We love Zambia for the wild and remote national parks. In fact, one of our favourite places to get away from it all, is South Luangwa National Park in the Northern regions of Zambia. Lusaka, the capital of Zambia, is a usual stop for many of the European flights so starting or ending a safari here is an option.
From here it is a short and easy flight to Mfuwe and your gateway into the spectacular safari areas of the Luangwa where your safari guide will meet you. The life-giving Luangwa River is glistening and swollen after the summer rains and a river safari here is one of the most unusual but sensational ways of experiencing Africa! Food sources abound as the bush has come alive with new growth, summer flowers delight the senses, the antelope have given birth and with that … the predators are feasting! Daily bright blue skies are a given but drama is added with occasional but spectacular thunder and lightning shows that make for crimson sunsets and breath-taking photography. Summer is the time of plenty and a fully inclusive River Journey will not disappoint!
Your safari starts at Lusaka airport where you board your short flight to Mfuwe where your safari guide will meet you.
Your three nights at Luangwa River Lodge are filled with twice daily boating or walking activities, spotting wildlife along the river.
From Luangwa you travel further upriver to Nsefu camp in the northern regions of the park where you will stay for two nights.
After Nsefu you slowly make your journey south again to end at the beautiful Nkwali Camp where your last 2 nights are spent.
Depart the Luangwa and travel back through the villages, experiencing the African culture and their slow paced life.
